Using the Chargers

Using the Cars

  1. Reserve a Car: Use the Zipcar app or website to reserve a car. The app is preferred. Reservations are limited to FOUR HOURS per day and TWELVE HOURS per week. Instructions:
  2. Unlock with your Zipcard: Use your Zipcard to unlock and lock the vehicle during trips. Scan it over the reader on the windshield. Once it beeps, you have successfully unlocked/locked the vehicle.
  3. Inspect and Report: Before you start driving, inspect your Zipcar inside and out and report any problems. This will help ensure our vehicles get the care they need and you are not held responsible for any issues. You can report issues through the Zipcar app by clicking Report on the Drive screen. If you feel that the vehicle is too dangerous or dirty to drive, please call us at (866) 494-7227. We ask that you report any problem with the vehicle, including:
    • Vehicle damage, including scratches or dents larger than a credit card
    • Range can accommodate your trip needs
    • Untidy vehicles, including litter, smoke, pet hair, or anything else that might affect another member's experience
    • Warning lights, flat tires, and other maintenance issues
  4. Drive: OCCS makes it easy for residents to go to the store, drop kids off at school, or get to/from a meeting. Just be sure to return the car on time or check availability to extend your reservation if you need more time (up to 4 hours).
  5. Park & Plug: Vehicles MUST be returned to the designated parking space AND PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER by your reserved end time. The vehicle should be at least ¼ charged if there is a reservation immediately after yours. If you need to recharge during your reservation, check out charging stations near you at plugshare.com.
  6. Trip Experience: Our Community Carshare would like to understand how to serve your community better. Please fill out the Trip Survey.
