NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS TO ADOPT SACRAMENTO REGIONAL 8-HOUR OZONE ATTAINMENT AND REASONABLE FURTHER PROGRESS PLAN (SIP) AND FINAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT (FEIR)
The air districts in Sacramento Federal Nonattainment Area (SFNA) will hold public hearings to consider adoption of the Sacramento Regional 8-Hour Ozone Attainment and Reasonable Further Progress Plan (Plan). In addition to the Plan adoption, the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD) will consider certification of the Plan’s Environmental Impact Report. The Plan covers all of Sacramento and Yolo counties, and portions of Placer, El Dorado, Solano, and Sutter counties.
The Plan shows that the region is meeting requirements of the Clean Air Act for the 1997 8-hour ozone standard including meeting minimum emission reduction progress and reaching air quality standard not later than 2018. The Plan also will update the emission inventory and establish new emission budgets for transportation and general conformity. In addition, the plan makes commitments to adopt and implement new reasonably available control measures.
The Boards of Directors of the air districts in the SFNA will consider the adoption of the Plan during the public hearings in early 2009. NOTE: As the lead agency, only the SMAQMD public hearing will consider certification of the FEIR. The public hearings schedule is listed below. The Plan and FEIR is also available below. You may contact your local air district to request a printed copy of the Plan and FEIR.
By this notice, all interested parties are specifically requested to comment on the Plan and FEIR. Oral and written testimony may be directed to the Air District Board of Directors at the public hearings, or sent to the district office, as set forth below:
